"terræqueous trace" was conceived, composed, improvised, recorded, re-composed and mixed in a two-month period of near-endless sunlight on the lighthouse-bearing island of skomvær in northern norway. the focus of the process was twofold; the observation and gathering of patterns of sound and extra-solar signifiers of time during life on the island, and experimentation with a 1960s norwegian-made vestre reed organ that was in the lighthouse-keeper's assistant's former living quarters. incidental drones and textures anticipate and merge with minimal organ compositions and abstracted pastorals. natural reverbs were created in the resonant iron chamber of the lighthouse itself. this is a document of an immediate and deep impression left by a rare, wild, magical and brilliant place.
